A downed tree caused some unexpected excitement at a catered Falmouth party Sunday evening, July 27.

Windsor firefighters responded to a house party in the 100 block of Town Road after a tree cracked and struck a power line around 8 p.m.

Capt. Doug Matheson, with the Windsor Fire Department, said the firefighters attended the scene as there were reports of power lines arcing. The power to the site was cut.

Matheson said upon arrival, they noticed a limb from the downed tree was blocking access to a vehicle. The fire department cut away the downed branch so the driver could move her vehicle.

“There were no persons in the car, and no damage. We just tried to help her out,” said Matheson.

Nova Scotia Power employees were called to the site to assess the situation and look into restoring power.
