It’s safe to go back in the water at Lake Torment.

The lake in East Dalhousie, on the Kings and Annapolis county border, has been closed since June 27 due to a possible blue-green algae bloom.

"Inspection of the lake indicates that the bloom is over and swimming and other recreational activities should now be safe," said Linda Passerini, environmental health consultant with the Department of Health and Wellness. "However, it's important to remember that drinking untreated water from the lake is never recommended."

Blue-green algae blooms occur naturally and can re-occur in the right conditions.
