This is the latest court report for Kings and West Hants counties.

Assault causing bodily harm, threats

Reilly Howard Hill, 19, of Grafton, has been handed a conditional sentence order and has been sentenced to probation for committing an assault causing bodily harm and two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

Hill changed his pleas to guilty to the charges on May 3 and the matters were adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. On July 4, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Hill a 12-month conditional sentence order with daily curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the entire time. The conditional sentence will be followed by one year of probation.

Hill committed the offences in Grafton on Sept. 4, 2017. Charges of assault with a weapon, two counts of willfully damaging property to a value not exceeding $5,000 and a charge of failing to comply with probation were dismissed with the Crown offering no evidence.

Damaged property, stole from store

Ty Russell Harrington, 21, of Canning, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for willfully damaging an individual’s property to a value not exceeding $5,000 and stealing property from Walmart of a value not exceeding $5,000.

Harrington pleaded guilty to the charges on Nov. 7, 2017. The matters were adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Harrington was present in provincial court in custody on June 29. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Harrington a conditional discharge with six months of probation on the two charges.

Harrington committed the offences in Canning on March 20, 2016, and in New Minas on June 7, 2016.

Conditional discharge for undertaking offence

Brandon Leigh William Sabean, 24, of New Minas, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for failing to comply with his undertaking.

Sabean changed his plea to guilty on July 3. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Sabean a conditional discharge with 12 months of probation, including 25 hours of community service work.

Sabean committed the offence in Kentville on June 8, 2017. A charge of failing to comply with probation was dismissed with the Crown offering no evidence.

Suspended sentence for undertaking offence

Nicole Grace Danielle Veinot, 33, of Kingston, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for failing to comply with her undertaking by being on the premises of the Kingston Superstore.

Veinot changed her plea to guilty on July 4. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Veinot a suspended sentence with nine months of probation, including five hours of community service work.

Veinot committed the offence in Kingston on Dec. 3, 2017.

Drove while disqualified

Dwayne Reid Alders, 36, of North Kentville, has been fined for operating a motor vehicle in Canada while disqualified from doing so.

Alders changed his plea to guilty on July 5. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Alders a total of $975 and imposed a discretionary one-year driving prohibition against him.

Alders committed the offence in North Kentville on Aug. 30, 2017.
