KENTVILLE, NS - Flames and heavy smoke are visible as a fire rips through an apartment building on Parkview Road in Kentville.
Mutual aid has been called in from several departments – including New Minas and Canning - as Kentville firefighters battle the blaze at the three-level building.
Approximately 20 people lined the street watching, visibly concerned, many with hands over their mouths and arms crossed.
The air is hazy as firefighters use axes to break through siding and windows to let smoke out to cool building off. Flames were visible through windows of the building, but by 11 a.m., were not as obvious from the street.
An aerial truck is on site but is not currently in use.
Firefighters swept the building to ensure no one was trapped inside and looked for pets belonging to the residents.
The call came in at 10:18 a.m. May 22.
More to come.
