WINDSOR, N.S. — Former Brooklyn Fire Department chief Andrew William McDade, 44, of Newport, has plead not guilty to charges of sexual assault.

On Sept. 18, John Shanks, McDade’s lawyer and Bill Fergusson, the Crown prosecutor, agreed to a two-day trial, which was scheduled for Jan. 21 and 25, 2019.

Kings and Hants Court Report – Sept. 14 

McDade, of Newport, was charged with committing a sexual assault in Three Mile Plains between May 16 and June 14, 2018.

McDade resigned as the Brooklyn fire chief on July 3.

The alleged victim cannot be identified due to a publication ban.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
