HANTS COUNTY, N.S. — RCMP officers and first responders spent the better part of the day June 12 attending to a fatal two-vehicle accident on Avondale Road.
The call for assistance came in shortly after 7 a.m.
A 25-year-old man from Newport was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released by the RCMP due to the Privacy Act.
Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, a media relations officer with the Nova Scotia RCMP, confirmed that a 52-year-old man, from Ardoise, was also injured as a result of the collision. He was transported by EHS Life Flight to the QEII hospital in Halifax. The extent of his injuries is unknown as this time.
The Avondale Road was closed for most of the day at Ferry Road to allow an RCMP collision analyst time to collect evidence.
Hutchinson said the investigation is ongoing and that the collision analyst report may take several weeks or months to determine the exact cause of the collision.
It’s “too soon to speculate on what actually caused the collision.”
