Barrington RCMP say the weather was a major factor in a crash that closed the Cape Sable Island Causeway for a time on Thursday night, Feb. 27.

The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. in blizzard-like conditions when a van veered across the centre line and hit a car head-on.

RCMP said only minor injuries were reported but the causeway was closed for a time and then was opened to one lane until the scene was cleared up.

RCMP reported extremely slippery and whiteout conditions at the time of the crash.
