A Port Williams man charged in connection to a multi-million dollar fraud made his first appearance in Kentville provincial court Dec. 16.

Gregory Paul Burden, 64, is facing three charges of fraud over $5,000 and 12 counts of uttering forged documents. The offences were alleged to have occurred between September 2006 and April 2012.

Charges were laid against Burden in November after a 16-month investigation into an allegation of banking and investment fraud against the Royal Bank of Canada by two Nova Scotia companies owned and operated by Burden.

During his court appearance, Burden waived reading of the charges and was ordered to return to court Feb. 11 to enter pleas.
