YARMOUTH -  For the first time in its history, FIN Outdoor is bringing its outdoor movie experience on the road. The first stops are two locations in Yarmouth County.

Yarmouth & Acadian Shores Tourism Association (YASTA) is partnering with the FIN Atlantic International Film Festival for the initiative.

FIN Outdoor will put up its 30-foot inflatable screen on Friday, Aug. 10, in the green space behind the Isaac Walton Killam Memorial Library in Yarmouth for a viewing of the award-winning film Maudie.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, at Le Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse, in Lower West Pubnico, there will be a showing of the original 1979 film: The Muppet Movie.

This event celebrates what FIN has dubbed the “Summer of Henson”, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Jim and Jane Henson’s founding of Muppets Inc.

“This is a fun family event and we’re pleased to be partnering with FIN Outdoor to bring a couple of great movies to the region this summer” said Neil Mackenzie, executive director for YASTA.

“We have no shortage of artists, artisans and interesting galleries in our region and of course the fact that Maud Lewis was born in Yarmouth strengthens the obvious connection to the movie. Furthermore, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia - Yarmouth is just down the street, so visitors can appreciate some amazing art before they come see the movie.”

Roger d’Entremont, executive director of Le Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse is pleased to be chosen as one of the locations for the FIN Outdoor event.

“We’re excited to welcome this event to Le Village this summer. I know the community will be out to support it and I know we have a great location—there are lots of Muppet fans around here too.”

This are free events. The sites will be opened 30 minutes before the screening: 8:15 pm sites open, 8:45 pm show start. Those attending FIN Outdoor are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for comfort.
