YARMOUTH - A classic tale adapted to theatre has almost sold out before the curtains have even opened for the show at Th’YARC.
The story is about Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.
If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If he doesn’t learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Directed by Mark Palmer and filled with a cast of over 40, the play features a wide array of costumes, choreography by the Yarmouth Dance Academy and music provided by a live pit orchestra.
Songs written by Alan Menken, the late Howard Ashman and Tim Rice are sung throughout the show.
The original Broadway production ran for over 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including best musical.
