The Annapolis Big Band polished up the brass for the 15th annual Moonlight Concert in Paradise Saturday evening, attracting about 1,000 music enthusiasts to the grounds of Ellenhurst, the estate of David and Linda Hankinson who offer their backyard every year for the community hall fundraiser.

David Hanklinson plays trumpet in the 17-piece big band that played three sets including mostly big band songs like In the Mood, Moonlight Serendae, and Startdust, but threw in some more mondern tunes like Crazy, Moondance, and What'd I Say. Providing vocal on several of the songs was Donna-Lynne Holmes.

The crowd was scattered across several acres of the lush, green property set against the Annapolis River on the south and Highway 1 on the north. The canopy of giant oak trees helped usher in twilight a few minutes early and the moon rose over the carriage house as people sat around tables with crackers and cheese, fresh fruit, vegetables, dips, baguets and spreads, plus every conceivable kind of beverage.
