Annapolis Royal Regional Academy’s Royal Robots were visited by Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil Saturday at the Visitor Information Centre at the tidal power plant in Annapolis Royal.

The Royal Robots recently won the Provincial Robotics Championships at Acadia University and are preparing to compete at the Canadian Open International Tournament at the University of Toronto in June. McNeil drew the winning tickets in a fundraising raffle held by the Royal Robots. First prize was a pair of handmade shoes worth $1,000 by Jon Gray Bespoke. The roboptics team neaded to raise $10,000 and surpassed their goal.

To great applause, the Royal Robots also held a demonstration of their programming prowess. McNeil also presented each member of the team with a copy of a resolution read in the Nova Scotia Legislature honouring them for their achievements.

The Royal Robots were also invited to Halifax where they met Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
