Aylesford and District Lions Club welcomes new executive at awards and induction night dinner


AUBURN, NS - A new executive committee has taken the helm of the Aylesford and District Lions Club.

At an awards and induction night dinner held at the club’s hall in Auburn on June 27, Bob Lyle of the Kingston Lions, a Past Council Chairperson, inducted the new executive. The hall was decorated for the event in the lions colours of purple and gold.

Beginning July 1, the new executive for 2018-2019 includes Brian Graves, Wayne Newhook, Peggy Bennett, Fred Huntley, Rod Leslie, George Boyd, Jan Chipman, David Bowlby, Joy Herbert, Dan Herbert and Will Huntley. Past King Lion Fred Huntley has handed the gavel to the new King Lion, Jan Chipman.

Three members, including Jan Chipman, Brian Graves and Joy Herbert, received Honorary Life Membership of the Lions Foundation of Nova Scotia. There were also awards given for attendance and visitations.

Members of the Kingston Royal Canadian Legion, headed by Mike Pineo, provided the dinner. The menu included barbecue chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and apple pie and ice cream for dessert. Tom Hatt provided musical entertainment and there was time for fellowship before and after the event.
