The event, held Aug. 5 at Newport Landing, featured everything from a tidal tube race and vintage motor show, to yoga on the wharf, mud sliding, petting zoo, and live music all day.
Adrienne Peters, one of the organizers, was pleased with the event.
“It was our most successful day in years. We had an amazing crowd. We had lots of extra volunteers this year and it really showed,” said Peters.
“We had bands outside all day. We had kids events,” she said. “We had a bigger car show than what we have had in years. To top it off, we had the best fireworks show we had in years.”
Dawson Sheehy, who also helped organize the event, shared a similar sentiment, citing both the car show and tube race as big draws.
“It was very successful. We had a little extra money to put towards it this year. It's still not a profit-bearing event but we just want to put something on for the community,” said Sheehy.
Peters said 2018 is being planned for the last Saturday in July.
“It gets bigger and bigger every year. Next year, expect to have an all-day amazing experience,” she said.
