Medway Head Lighthouse being turned over

Medway Head lighthouse is being turned over to the local society this Wednesday at 2 p.m.

The members of the Medway Head Lighthouse Society are inviting the public to join them for the official transfer of ownership of Medway Head Lighthouse and lands from the federal government to their Society.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 11 at 2 p.m. on site. Medway Head light is located on Long Cove Road in Port Medway, about 5 kilometres from the intersection of Port Medway Road and Long Cove Road.  Port Medway is accessed via Highway 103 at exit 17A and is 7 kilometres from the highway.

Following the brief ceremony, a reception of celebration, complete with cake and refreshments, will take place at the Port Medway fire hall located at 66 Long Cove Road.

"This project has taken years of work and negotiation and we would like you to be part of the celebration and share our joy on this special day," say the organizers.
