Soup Kitchen

February 12 Join us for homemade soup at St. Monica’s Church Hall, 37 Connaught Ave., Middleton, on Wednesdays at noon beginning January15 until the Spring. All are welcome to come and socialize. There is no cost. Info: 825-6906.


CAPS Meeting

Neighborhood Watch

Valentine's Luncheon

February 14 Enjoy a Delicious Valentine's Luncheon at Saint Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, hosted by William Black United Church on Friday, Feb. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  ( storm date Saturday, Feb. 15). Annapolis Royal Trek

Valentine’s Supper

February 14 Valentine’s Supper at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Middleton, 5 to 6:30 p.m.  Enjoy cupids’ cocktail, roll, poppy seed salad, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, corn flake chicken breast, dressing, cranberry sauce and dessert. Valentine’s Dance

February 15 Valentine’s Dance at the Legion in Lawrencetown, 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Music by “Spare Parts” (classic rock). Everyone 19+ welcome. Cost is $10 each. 


Winter Carnival

February 14-16 Come to the Bear River Winter Carnival. Some of the events are snow & ice sculpture contests, outdoor skating, fireworks, cross country ski clinic and trip, kids sledding hill, dance, art show, dinner, prizes, ATV & snowmobile Follow Me run, food contest, maple syrup snow suckers, kick-sledding workshopand so much more. Sweetheart Dance

February 15 Valley Pride monthly GLBT dance at the Lions Hall in Nictaux, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Music by DJ T Bone. Cost is $5 at the door. Door prizes, 50/50 and cash bar. 


Sweetheart Walk

February 15 Grab your sweetie and join the Valley Trekkers lead by the "Luvely" Lynda Kanne as we follow her and her sweetheart on a 10 km walk in and around the Greenwood area. You might even learn of some new out of the way snuggle spots. Meet in the parking lot of the Greenwood Aviation Museum/Canex. Chowder Supper

Valentine Dance

February 15 At the Royal Canadian Legion in Bear River, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dance to the music of “One Night Only” - Paul Lombard and friends. Everyone welcome. NSLID required at door.


Fun Run/Walk

February 15 Bridgetown Winterfest 5 km. Fun Run/Walk. Come support the Bridgetown Lions Club. Onsite registration at 9:00 a.m., however, to guarantee yourself a spot in the race and a medal, pre-registration is required by calling Andrea Barteaux at 665-4185 or email abarteau@staff.ednet.ns.ca. Run/walk begins at Bridgetown Fire Hall, 31 Bay Road. Entry fee is $10. Refreshments after the run and a draw for prizes.


Afternoon with Friends

February 16  The Friends of the Library will host the second "Afternoon with Friends" speaker; The Magic and Mystery of Cricket, presented by Simon Bonnington from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Church Hall in Annapolis Royal.  Learn about this game, played by garrisons at Fort Anne, and see its recent resurgence in our area.  Please join us, and bring a friend.


Food Bank AGM

February 17 The Twelve baskets Food Bank’s annual general meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Food Bank, 9326 Hwy 10 Nictaux (across from Needs). The general public is welcome to attend.


Quarry Meeting

February 18 Public meeting concerning the proposed quarry on Brooklyn Road to be held at the Brickton Community Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome. Guest speakers, Powerpoint presentation, and a 

moderator to be announced.


Spaghetti Supper

February 21 The Great Spaghetti Supper at St. Luke's Anglican Church in Annapolis Royal, 5 to 6;30 p.m. Enjoy spaghetti with veggie or meat sauce, salad, fresh breads with flavored butters and an ice cream dessert bar with brownies. Cost: adults $10; children $5. Wine available for $4/glass. Tickets available at church office (532-0342) or from project committee members. 


Fun Day

February 22 At the Middleton Baptist Church Family Life Center, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featuring: art, handbag & jewelry sale, a bake table, talent auction (11:30 – 12:30), and everyone’s favourite – Bonnie’s Bistro serving soup, sandwiches & dessert for $8 (11:30 – 1:00). 


Variety Music Night

February 22 Variety Music Night at the Legion in Kingston, 7 to 9 p.m. Featuring Valley, Blue, Carroll Edwards and Country Harmony with Rob Jamison and Friends. Cost is $5 at the door. Also canteen and 50/50. 


Community Breakfast

February 22 Everyone is invited Saturday, Feb. 22 to a a community breakfast from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Forester’s Hall in Clementsvale. The menu will consist of bacon, eggs (any style), hashbrowns, homemade beans, fruit, toast, tea, coffee, and juice.  Admission will be $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 12 – 5 and under 5 is free.


Cribbage Tournament

February 22 At Middleton Legion Branch #1, registration at 12 noon, play starts at 1:00 p.m. All entrance monies returned in prizes. Canteen available. Members and guests welcome. Must be 19 years of age. Info: 825-4751


Ticket Auction

Provincial Tournament

February 27 to March 1 Division III Girls Provincial Basketball Tournament at the Middleton Regional High School. Eight high school teams from throughout the province will play. Tickets: adults $5; students $2; under 12 is free; 3 day pass is $12. Schedule: Thurs. & Fri.: 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 & 8:00; Sat.:  9:00, 11:00, 1:00 & 3:00.

March 1 Ticket auction at Middleton Fire Hall on March 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Middleton & Area Fireflies. Lots of items and certificates to be won. Canteen services available. Special draws for a Giant Gift Basket, a Shamrock Cake, 50/50, and a Roast Beef Dinner for six at Just Dropping Inn Bed and Breakfast. Draws will begin at 2:05.


Photo Workshop

March 29 Old Family Photo Identification Workshop, 12:30-4:30, at the Bear River Museum / Oakdene Centre. Learn to date old phots, place people in your family tree, identifiy faces from your past and browse historic photo & reference books. Bring your old photos. Cost is $20.
