Heather Donohue, the chair of the Windsor Business Enhancement Society, said the film crew has been great in working with the merchants so as to not interfere with their day-to-day operations.

“We've had other film crews come in and the streets were closed for a long time,” said Donohue. “The production crew and the location managers (for "The Mist"), they're very good about letting everyone know what's going to happen and when, and try to be as accommodating as possible. (They're) trying not to disrupt anything.”

According to a press release issued by Spike TV, "The Mist" is a multimillion-dollar original television series adapted from the Stephen King novella by the same name.

The cast includes Morgan Spector ("The Drop," "The Last Airbender"), Frances Conroy ("Six Feet Under"), Alyssa Sutherland ("Vikings," "The Devil Wears Prada"), Gus Birney, Dan Butler, Luke Cosgrove, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner and Isiah Whitlock, Jr.

The series, which is mainly being shot in Bedford, with some filming in Windsor, is set to air in 2017.

Scenes will be filmed between July 25 and Nov. 18. While in Windsor, haze machines will be in use to create mist for filming.

Donohue said even though the filming in Windsor will be sporadic, she hopes there will be some economic spinoffs.

“They shop here, they eat here, they get gas here,” said Donohue.

“We've had crew members from prior films that were shot here come back to vacation here because they liked it so much.”

Donohue said businesses will remain open.

“They recognize that we are running businesses on a daily basis and they try to have as little negative impact on that as possible,” she said.

Donohoe said while the filming means there will be a small economic spin off in Windsor, people need to realize that the “big picture is that there are still films being shot in Nova Scotia — which is a good thing. This is an economic driver. I'm pleased that they're back.”
