GREENWICH NS – The popular Stirling Farm Market in Greenwich is being replaced with a new facility.

Market manager Ellen Stirling Kennie confirmed April 19 that all the equipment to the west of the current building has launched the project.
When the new market is finished, she noted, a move will take place, leaving more parking space where the existing structure is.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Stirling Fruit Farms, Kennie pointed out. In 1917 at the age of 17, founder Alexander Robert (A.R.) Stirling bought the farm from his aunts and devoted his life to agriculture.
In the 1940’s he expanded setting up the first Stirling roadside farm market in front of his house. Today there are also Stirling markets in Bible Hill and Bridgewater, along with Moncton and Saint John in New Brunswick.
The Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce selected the Greenwich market as the Valley’s Best Farm Market for 2015 and 2016.
