Let’s Go Fishing tour guides Cheryl Furlotte and Alfie O’Quinn are taking people freshwater fishing this summer in hopes that more people can experience the joys of the activity. Because everything from life jackets and all fishing equipment – including rods and spinning tackle – are supplied, as well as the fishing license being included in the tour, it makes for an easy day out.
“We are trying to get our community involved and to let visitors enjoy their vacation when visiting us,” says Furlotte.
Some of the freshwater fish participants may catch include: smallmouth bass, brook and rainbow trout, chain pickerel, as well as white and yellow perch. Though the tour offers mainly catch and release, if participants want to take a couple fish to cook at home, the guides will even clean them for you.
Tours operate three times a day, every Thursday until Aug. 31, and alternate between Ten Mile Lake Provincial Park in Middlefield and Wentzell’s Lake. Tours are $64 per adult and last two hours. Participants can also book a traditional fry-up for the end of the day.
Whether you are visiting or want to try it without having to buy all the equipment, get out this summer and try your hand at fishing, Furlotte urges.
“There is nothing like getting away from the city,” says Furlotte. “Out on the water is so relaxing and exciting at the same time, surrounded by nature and waiting to catch your fish as you enjoy the scenery.”
