Eight-year-old girl cuts hair as Cancer Society fundraiser
Eight-year-old Emily Payne (centre) has made a major contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society. She canvassed for donations to have 10 inches of her hair cut to make a wig for a young cancer patient and raised $2,101.45. RBC, 14 Wing Greenwood and other companies and organizations made significant contributions and Emily’s mom, Valerie Payne (left), said people were extremely generous and supportive. Amanda Bent, Canadian Cancer Society Valley District Coordinator (right), was on hand at the Beleaf Aveda Concept Salon and Spa in Kentville Thursday, April 5 to accept the donation and witness the haircut, which was donated by hair stylist Michelle Bigelow.
