Something “big” will catch the eye of anyone venturing past the Brooklyn ball field during the weekend of August 24-26.
An agreement has been reached between the Queens County Sea Fest Committee and the organizers of the Rockin’ on the Mersey event.
Sea Fest Chairperson, Jean Robinson-Dexter explained they were approached by Rockin’ on the Mersey organizers a number of weeks ago, when they made the decision to move their event from the July 1 weekend to the same weekend as Sea Fest.
She stated they have had discussions with Gene Wong, a representative for Rockin’ on the Mersey regarding how these two events can co-exist in the Brooklyn area.
“We felt it was very important to ensure from our perspective that if this event was happening in Brooklyn, that we address timing of programming and concerts, risk management, as well as other details before making any announcement,” Robinson-Dexter said.
Wong said they would be pitching the big tent in the Brooklyn ball field, which can hold thousands of people.
“The initial thing is that we want to get this out there so that people realize there’s no conflict here on our part and we’re working together to benefit everybody in the Brooklyn area and Queens County,” said Wong.
Sea Fest will be offering its annual line up of events such as entertainment, family activities, the fishing derby, Row for Charity and food concessions.
Rockin’ on the Mersey will offer evening concerts with musical acts varying each night; ticket prices have yet to be announced.
