Junior goaltender Sarah Belliveau, a native of Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia, recently completed a solid junior season playing for the Northeastern University women’s ice hockey team.

Belliveau, a 2004 graduate of Barrington Municipal High School, led all Northeastern goaltenders by appearing in 18 games this season, including starting a team-high 14 games.

She led the team in every major statistical category, posting a 4.19 goals against average and a .864 save percentage in almost 916 minutes of action. Belliveau earned three wins on the season, with her first coming on Oct. 22 as she made 26 saves in the Huskies’ 6-5 win over Maine. Her second victory doubled as her first career shutout, as she stopped all 22 shots in a 3-0 victory over Niagara on Nov. 4, a victory that earned her Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. The junior’s most impressive weekend of the season might have come on Nov. 17-18, when she stopped a combined 79 shots in two games against No. 4 New Hampshire, including a career-high 44 saves on Nov. 17.

Prior to attending Northeastern, Belliveau was a four-sport athlete at Barrington Municipal High School, playing hockey, soccer, basketball and softball. As a member of the Nova Scotia team during the Canada Winter Games, the Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia, native led the team to a 3-1-1 record with a .950 save percentage as Nova Scotia finished fifth in the games, its highest finish ever, and also beat Alberta for the first time.

The Northeastern women’s hockey team ended the 2006-07 season with a record of 5-26-2, playing in the competitive Women’s Hockey East conference. The Huskies played one of the toughest schedules in the region, including 10 games against teams currently ranked in the latest USCHO.com Division I poll and six games against teams from the ECAC Hockey League.
