There was dancing, singing and storytelling during March Break at the library this year. On Tuesday afternoon Erin Isnor, who provided March Break activities to a number of branches, brought Dance Dance Revolution to our library.
Participants chose a song and skill level then had to follow the pattern of steps projected on the screen as they moved backward and forward, side-to-side and jumped on the arcade style dance platform. This was the first try for some while others were more experienced. Between turns the girls had a chance to talk, catch their breath and have a snack.
In a cozy corner of the library, complete with blankets and pillows, 12 kids, caregivers, parents and grandparents listened to Erin Isnor read stories during the Teddy Bear Picnic Wed., March 14. The kids and their teddies also participated energetically in action songs and ended the morning with a juice and cookies.
Our village is organizing a unique 75th Apple Blossom weekend experience involving our former Princesses Port Williams. A committee that started with representatives from the Village Commission, Lions and W.I. has contacted our former princesses to invite them to come home for the festival this year.
Our princesses would attend the Coronation and be in the Grand Street parade. The highlight will be a special Village event on Sunday afternoon that would coincide with the Royal Visit. The planning for these activities is in the early stages and the committee welcomes anyone who would like to get involved.
The committee would like to have a display of photos and memorabilia of past princesses and their reigns and is looking for anyone who has photos/items that they would be willing to lend. As well, they’re thinking that some princesses from away with no family in the area might appreciate having hosts for the weekend. Is anyone interested?
For information or to be involved in any of the above events, please contact Dianne at the Village Office at 542-4411.
