Snowmobile crash sends two to hospital

A couple was taken to Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville Friday night, February 9 after a snowmobile hit a tree near the Cleveland Rd. in Windermere.

A 911 call alerted police to the incident about 10 p.m. The driver suffered a fracture to his lower vertebrae after the snowmobile landed on the couple. Further details on the driver and passenger’s conditions was not available.

RCMP Cst. Les Kakonyi said blood samples were taken and possible charges are pending.

Last week, an 18-year-old woman received minor injuries in another snowmobile accident, which occurred on a fire road near Dalhousie. Visibility was poor at the time.
