Fender-bender closes New Minas road

This was the scene near the intersection of Prospect Road and Commercial Street, New Minas, early Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, following a fender-bender involving this truck and another vehicle. RCMP spokesperson Cst. Les Kakonyi said a woman apparently lost control and went into a skid coming down the hill on Prospect Road and was struck from behind by another vehicle. New Minas firefighters provided traffic control, as Prospect Road had to be closed temporarily. Simultaneously, New Minas firefighters were called to extinguish a car fire in the parking lot at Sobeys caused by an apparent electrical problem. Kakonyi said no one was injured in either incident and no charges will be laid.
