Police investigate rash of recreation trailer break-ins
Kings RCMP are investigating approximately 20 recent break and entries into seasonal mobile trailer homes at the Sherwood Forest Campground in Coldbrook.
Police received the first complaint Thursday, Dec. 14, but it soon became obvious that there were at least 19 other break-ins at trailers the vicinity of the first.
Investigators believe that the culprit or culprits gained access into the trailers by smashing windows.
Because of the seasonal nature of the facility, the exact timing of the break-ins has not yet been determined, except that it was on or before Wednesday night, Dec. 13.
Kings RCMP spokesman Cst. Les Kakonyi said that it appears that culprits were searching for money, liquor or prescription drugs. “It looks like the high-end items such as TVs weren’t touched.
Regardless of what was targeted by that particular perpetrator or perpetrators, Kakonyi said “we remind people that anything of value should be taken out of such places for the season.
With few current leads in the cases, RCMP are asking anyone with information to either contact them at the RCMP office in New Minas 679-5555 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers @
