Time to remember
Every year on Nov. 11, Canadians gather together to remember those who died in wartime and peacetime service.
We will remember those who died in the world wars, the Korean War and those who fell during peacekeeping missions. We will also remember the 42 soldiers, who have died since 2002 during our mission in Afghanistan.
With a growing number of Canadians becoming uneasy with the mounting casualties from Afghanistan, some are now questioning our government’s reasoning for keeping them there.
The government, for now, has reiterated a commitment to their allies to help establish stability in that country.
But it is a dangerous place, where roadside bombs, rocket attacks and full-scale assaults have taken their toll on our forces.
These Canadian soldiers who have died are not unlike the young soldiers of other wars.
They sacrificed everything fighting on the orders of the government.
And on Nov. 11, and every Remembrance Day from now on, we will remember them.
