Terry Hawkins Industries Ltd. on Sandy Point Road will use a $200,000 loan from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency for a factory expansion and market development says president and CEO Terry Hawkins.
“The ACOA investment in marketing and market development has allowed us to attract top-line marketing expertise and provided us with the financial boost to seek out new export market opportunities, said Hawkins.

The business, which produces Victorian claw-footed bathtubs in addition to other building components, has a staff of 11.

Hawkins says at least thirty people will be employed within the next five years.

“We’ve already got a large number of next year’s employees already hired and on the payroll, he said.

“Within a very short time we will be moving well outside that 30.

Hawkins pointed to their close proximity to Shelburne harbor as one of the reasons for the growth of the business.

“The market for our product is worldwide, he said.

In addition to its open mold line, the enterprise is fostering the growth of a protrusion line, which is a cost-effective method for the production of advanced composites.

Hawkins foresees the construction of a second factory in the Shelburne Industrial Park as the demand for protrusion products continues to grow.

“We have the only machine in Canada that will produce an aspect of protrusion, he said.
