George Canyon concluded a seven-week, countrywide tour at the Yarmouth Mariners Centre for a crowd of 1200 on Friday, Oct. 27.
Canyon was awarded Male Artist of the Year and Single of the Year (Somebody Wrote Love) at the Canadian Country Music Awards in September.
The awards are the latest of many for the entertainer, who was raised in Pictou County.
In the spring of 2006, Canyon had the opportunity to accompany Canada’s Foreign Affairs, Peter McKay, on a trip to Kandahar in Afghanistan where he was able to meet with and perform for Canadian troops.
Canyon’s next stop after Yarmouth was a Meet & Greet in Greenwood for the opening of a Canadian Tire Store from noon to 2 p.m.
