Charges laid in fatal accident

A 28-year-old Shelburne County man is facing charges after a tragic car accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old female passenger.
Tara Lynn Muir died at the scene of the single vehicle collision Oct. 2 in Lower Woods Harbour.
The driver received minor injuries. Both were from the Lower Woods Harbour area.
Police were called to the scene at 2:37 a.m. The late model Dodge Stratus was eastbound on Highway 3 when it went out of control, crossed the road and collided with a tree.
It was raining heavily at the time. Speed and alcohol were alleged factors.
The driver, whose name has not been released, is facing charges of impaired driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, careless and imprudent driving, and driving while suspended.
He is scheduled to appear in Barrington Provincial Court on November 30.
