Peewee Bulldogs win fourth straight

The Valley peewee Bulldogs were the only game in town on the holiday weekend and made the best of it, topping Windsor 20-14 for their fourth straight win.
October 13’s game in Canning marked the second in five days between the two teams, and the visiting Warlords made a much better game of it than the 48-0 trouncing they had taken the previous week in Wolfville.
This time, the score was 6-6 at halftime, with the Bulldogs’ defense stopping Windsor on a goalline stand just before the half ended to keep the score tied.
Cam Davidson scored the Bulldogs’ first touchdown on a 70-yard run in the first half. Davidson, one of Valley’s best players so far this season, then suffered an injury that sidelined him for the second half.
Other Bulldogs took up the slack: Rory Graham scored on a 60-yard reverse, then Mike Boylen (subbing for Davidson) scored on a 25-yard run to make it 20-6.
Windsor scored a touchdown with 1:37 left on the clock to pull within six, but the Bulldogs then marched down the field and reached the 13-yard line.
With first-and-10 and 40 seconds left, Bulldogs’ coach Steve Melanson told quarterback Kyle McMullin “to take a knee” and let the clock run out.
Coach Larry Priestnall noted Valley Minor Football held 50-50 draws on both days of the Thunder in the Valley 4X4 rally last weekend in New Minas and raised $2,700.
