Info session dealing with bullying, positive school behavior being held at Drumlin school Monday night, Oct. 20
An information session that will deal with cyber bullying, harassment and positive school behavior is being held tonight (Monday, Oct. 20) at Drumlin Heights Consolidated School.
The intention of the information session is to give parents, students and staff the opportunity to learn how to work together to help maintain a positive school climate.
The information session has been set up by the Drumlin Heights home and school association in conjunction with the school administration and Bill Curry, the director of programs and students services with the Tri-County Regional School Board.
The regularly scheduled home and school meeting will take place at 6 p.m. The information session will follow at 7:15 p.m. Parents, students and staff are all being encouraged to attend. Phil Landry, school board superintendent, as well as board members, will also be present.
The tentative agenda includes the following:
•Curry will open with a presentation on Cyber bullying.
•Drumlin Heights staff will discuss positive school behaviour initiatives taking place at the school.
•RCMP Constable Theriault will be discussing bullying and harassment from a legal standpoint.
•Guest speaker Pam Mood will be giving a session on teasing, bullying and harassment. The theme of her talk will be: What is the difference and what can parents do?
The information session will conclude with a discussion: “What are the next steps?”

Comment online since October 21st 2008Everyone understands the seriousness of these type of problems. I do, however, feel bad for the students and educators at Drumlin. The constant negative focus on this school only hurts its reputation.
Bullying and bomb scares and such have been part of the education system for as long as I can remember.
Its terrible and I know can be nerve racking at times.
Safety is the number 1 priorty for everyone attending and working in these schools.
This problem is not isolated to Drumlin so its not fair to keep focussing on only this school.
Next week it could be Carleton school or Wedgeport and so on.
These sessions should be constant and on a rotating bases for all the schools in our district.
