The Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association, Region 10, will be meeting on Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at the community room in Sobey's, Starrs Road, Yarmouth (note new location). Provincial president Bernie LaRusic and vice president Steve MacDonald will be in attendance, as well as a guest speaker.

The Yarmouth Area Cancer Support Group will host a presentation Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Bluenose Conference Room of Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Special speaker is Christy Simpson who will speak on finding hope in difficult times. This is a message for all those with a threatening illness, including cancer. French courses
Oct. 20, 21
A free 10-week course of French in the workplace begins Oct. 20 and runs Mondays, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
at Universite Sainte-Anne Tusket Campus. There will also be a free course for adults in basic French as a first language beginning Oct. 21 at Université Sainte-Anne Tusket Campus on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30. Registration for both courses: 902-648-0501.

BMO helping food bank

The BMO Bank of Montreal, 354 Main St., in downtown Yarmouth is accepting food and monetary donations for the Yarmouth food bank until Thanksgiving. Anyone wishing to make a donation can drop by the bank to do so.
