Neily pumpkin tips 1,000 pounds
PEI grower takes Atlantic honours
Will Neily of Paradise posed Sunday morning with his 1,055-pound pumpkin that was good for sixth place at the 24th annual annual Pumpkin Weighoff in Windsor Saturday. It was also the largest Neily has ever grown Neily, a former Atlantic and Canadian champion, also entered an 879-pound pumpkin and 833-pound pumpkin, neither of which placed in the top 10. He also entered a 655-pound squash. Clifford Picketts of Kensington, PEI had the heaviest pumpkin at the Atlantic championship event and set a new Atlantic record. His entry weighed in at 1,315 pounds. Ben Hebb of Bridgewater had the winning squash that tipped the scales at 1,056 pounds. Neily’s pumpkin is on display at Neily’s Greenhouse and Gardens in Paradise.
