South Shore Wild home opener
South Shore Wild Junior C home opener is set for Tuesday night Oct. 7 at 8:45 p.m. against the recently accepted Chester Clippers of the Central Division.
In an earlier pre-season contest, Chester defeated us 4-3 so we will know what to expect. Missing from the team this year are three solid forwards, two experienced defence and two strong goalies.
In their stead, we have strengthened our defence and goal positions as well as added depth to our forward lines. Time will tell though as we meet Chester for their home opener Oct. 4 at 8:30 p.m. in Chester.
We would like to express our gratitude in welcoming new Head Coach Stew Horton and his son Josh to the coaching staff of the Wild. The Hortons have been involved with inline hockey, which is big in Ontario. Josh played goal at the semi-pro and Junior A Inline Hockey Level and also Canadian National Inline Hockey Junior A Level.
His dad coached at the same level and also ice hockey at AAA Midget Level. We will have two more quality coaches to add to our bench staff. Due to work commitments I was forced to seek a new Head Coach for the season. Also, several coaches have stepped down due to other commitments.
The Wild wish to announce season tickets are still available at $40 each for adults and $35 for students, for 16 home games. Door admission is $4 adults, $3 student and Minor Hockey players free when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Also we will be playing Yarmouth Raiders on Oct. 11 at 8:15 p.m. This should be another good match-up.
See you at the rink.
