Set to race , snow or no

There may not be snow, but that won’t stop snowmobilers from hitting the drag strip.

The Annapolis Valley Lake and Ridge Runners host their annual fall grass drags and swap meet Oct. 11 in Dempsey Corner.

Registration runs from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45, with a race meeting at 11 a.m. and racing underway by 11:30 a.m. Racers must be 19 years or older and there is a compulsory insurance fee per sled along with class fees.

There are classes for stock, trail improved, race and open trail improved, pro and modified sleds. The modified class’ only requirement: one track, two skis.

Anything goes for the swap meet: sleds, gear, parts and more.

Spectators are welcome - $5 per person, under 12 free. There will be a canteen and washrooms on site.

To find the grass track, take Hwy. 101 Exit 15 at Berwick and head north to Somerset, turn left at the Somerset corner along brooklyn Street and follow the signs to the Blomidon Performance Race Track.

If there is a rain delay, races will be moved by noon Oct. 10 to Sunday, October 12.
