White Rock news

Hello, everyone. Happy October! Before you know it, there will be Christmas decorations all around and the snow will be falling. If you need any Halloween costumes, get them fast; they won’t be out long.
With October comes hunting and with hunting everyone needs to remember their safety rules. Remember to wear hunter’s orange if entering the woods for a walk and perhaps for your pets too. After all, we want to keep everyone safe.
With the mention of safety, that reminds me. I have noticed a number of cyclists on the roads lately. Just a friendly reminder to cyclists, please wear bright clothing that is easily seen, wear your helmets and travel on the correct side of the road. When you are traveling on the wrong side or in the centre of the road, it just makes it dangerous for everyone involved.
The card party for Sept. 30 was a great closing to a wonderfully fun season at the Black River Community hall. There was a total of 11 tables in attendance.
Mary Coldwell won the women’s first prize. Barbara Davidson won women’s second and third went to Barb Mitchell.
Men’s first went to Howard Coldwell, second went to Phillip Long and Blake Spinney took third. The traveler went to John Griffiths and the 50/50 to Hazel Boylen. There were two door prizes and the winners were Mary Coldwell and Judy Levy.
The tickets were tallied for the season and three perfect attendance prizes were handed out. These prizes went to the dedicated individuals that continued every week to have fun: Helen Schofield, Cassie Green and Reg Pick.
A special thank-you goes out to all of the volunteers that assisted in the successful season, everyone that helped out with lunches and the many other tasks. You are appreciated.
With the last card party all over for the Black River Community hall, the White Rock Community hall begins its fall season of card playing.
