‘Thriving in Tough Times’ – Small Business Week Event
Recession or not, we can all agree the economy is cooling. As the cost of fuel, home heating and groceries increase, consumers’ disposable incomes are being pinched. Few people feel that effect more than small business owners.
After attending “Thriving in Tough Times”, you’ll be ready to fight back. In just four hours, lunch included, five dynamic speakers will empower you to: improve efficiency and cut your business costs; keep a watchful eye on cash flow; maintain relationships with employees and suppliers during tough times; adapt your marketing strategies for economic slowdown; and maintain your optimism, motivation and inner strength.
The event will take place Friday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at NSCC Kingstec. The event is $29.95 (HST included) and a full lunch is provided.

Acadia Business School Banquet
The Fred C. Manning School has announced that the 43rd Annual Acadia Business Banquet will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Fountain Learning Commons at Acadia University.
The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at 7:15 p.m. The banquet will feature keynote speaker Gordon Hicks, President of Brookfield Lepage Johnson Controls. This event brings students, faculty, alumni and community business leaders together for an evening of entertainment, discussion and friendly association.

Technology Learning Series: Acadia Media Centre Tour and Demo
The Kings CED Agency’s Technology Committee and partners invite you to attend the next Technology Learning Series: Acadia Media Centre Facilities Tour and Demonstration. The live demonstration will present a software usability study using video camera and keystroke analysis to observe and record how people navigate and respond to software. Light refreshments will be provided.
The event will take place Oct. 9, 2008 at Acadia University’s Horton Hall (18 University Avenue) with two session times. One session will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the second will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Space is limited, so please reserve your seat.
