A Habitant man is off to federal penitentiary for two convictions of sexual assault.
In Kentville provincial court Wednesday, Sept. 24, Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Jason Leo McKay, 32, to two years in custody each, to be served concurrently, for two counts of sexual assault.
The sentences will be followed by three years of reporting probation, conditions of which will include taking any recommended assessment, counselling or treatment, and no unsupervised contact with persons under the age of 18.
McKay will also be put on the Sex Offenders Registry for 20 years. He was ordered to provide a DNA sample for Corrections records.
McKay committed the first sexual assault in Canard June 8 and the second, in Habitant, June 22. He pleaded guilty to the charges July 23.
