The court has sent a Meadowview man to federal penitentiary for a variety of offenses.

Ryan Edward Hartley, 24, pleaded guilty in Kentville provincial court Wednesday, Sept. 24 to two counts of assault, refusing to take a breathalyzer test, unlawfully fleeing an accident scene, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a court undertaking, failing to attend court as ordered, and a theft from a liquor store.

Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Hartley to a total of 24 months in custody for the convictions, to be followed by 18 months’ probation.

The judge sentenced Hartley to six months each, to be served concurrently, for the March 12, 2008 assault, refusal, leaving the accident scene and probation breach; four months consecutive for the April 19 undertaking breach; three months consecutive for the May 20 failure to attend court; four months consecutive for the May 24 liquor store theft; four months consecutive for the June 14 probation breach; and three months consecutive but concurrent to each other for the July 20 assault and probation breach.

Hartley committed all but one of the offenses in Kentville, with the second probation breach being committed in Waterville.
