Kings fire lines - as of Sept. 30
Canning firefighters had a camper trailer and half-ton truck fire in Baxter’s Harbour to battle Sept. 23. Both were destroyed in the blaze and the cause is under investigation by the RCMP and the provincial fire marshal’s office. Kentville firefighters responded in mutual aid.

Canning firefighters responded to a call for medical assistance on the Black Hole Road Sept. 20 and to a fire alarm sounding at a residence on the Black Hole Road Sept. 23.

Canning firefighters responded to a chimney fire on Summer Street in Canning Sept. 23.

Elsewhere, Kentville firefighters responded to three motor vehicle incidents: the first was a vehicle rollover in Lakeville Sept. 19; Sept. 20, members were called to a rear-end collision in front of the Evergreen Home for Special Care. At least one individual was transported by ambulance to hospital. And, Kentville firefighters responded to the scene of a collision involving a man riding a bicycle and a car on Highway 12 Sept. 21. The car ran over the man, transported to the QEII Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.

Kentville firefighters responded also to a number of miscellaneous alarm calls last week.

New Minas firefighters responded to an illegal burn on Commercial Street Sept. 25. They responded also to what turned out to be a controlled burn on Commercial Street Sept. 25 and, the same day, had to extinguish a controlled burn on Commercial Street.

Wolfville firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in Avonport Sept. 24.

Hall’s Harbour firefighters responded to a medical emergency on the Al Bennett Road Sept. 25 at around 6:30 p.m.

The Waterville and District Fire Department has had a rather busy September. September 8 at 12:26, crews responded to a stove fire on Rafuse Road after the element in a electric oven malfunctioned. Crews returned at 13:07.

September 10, a minute after midnight, a fire alarm sounded at the Apple Dumpling Daycare. A faulty detector was to blame, and crews were back at 12:30.

An alarm at the Kings Regional Rehab Centre September 15 at 12:39 was cancelled.

September 19 at 16:00, firefighters investigated a silent alarm for the possibility of carbon monoxide at the Cambridge Baptist Church.

September 19 at 21:52, firefighters were dispatched to a chimney fire on Maple Street in Waterville. Crews and equipment were back in service at 23:09, only to be called in mutual aid to Kentville to assist at a vehicle accident in Lakeville from 23:20 until 23:54.

September 22 at 12:37, a residential fire alarm on Sarsfield Road was later cancelled.

September 27 at 1:05, a tanker and rescue were required to stand in for Kentville during a structure fire. Crews returned at 3:01.

The Fire Prevention Committee will also be making its rounds to the schools during Fire Prevention week October 5 to 11.
