Several bikes stolen from residences, beer can hits child on sidewalk and taxi window smashed
Yarmouth Town RCMP report
During the period of Sept. 8-21, the Yarmouth town RCMP detachment received 111 calls for service that included: three Mental Health Act investigations, six mischief/property damage, 10 false alarms, three erratic driving complaints, 11 theft under $5,000, three fraud investigations, six assaults, one causing a disturbance, four noise complaints, two motor vehicle collisions, three 911 hang-ups or misdials, one shoplifter and nine other Criminal Code.
The following is a summary of some of the calls:
•Sept. 8, 8:25 a.m., the detachment was contacted regarding damage to a boat at Lobster Rock Wharf. A window had been broken and there was an attempt to take supplies from the boat.
•Sept. 8, 6:54 p.m., a complaint was made via a 911 call of an erratic driver involving a black car on Willow Street squealing tires, no further description, patrol made, no vehicle located.
•Sept. 10, 3:13 p.m., received a call stating that the caller’s 11-year-old son, while walking on Parade Street near the Mountain Cemetery, had been hit with a beer can that had been thrown out of a window. No injuries to his son. The only description of the vehicle was that it was a black sports utility vehicle. Officers made an immediate patrol, subject vehicle could not be located.
•Sept. 13, 11:59 a.m., received a report of the overnight theft of a green and black mountain bike from a residence on Parade Street.
•Sept. 13, 2:03 p.m., received a report of theft of a Nova Scotia licence plate from a vehicle in town. The plate number is EMT 989.
•Sept. 13, 6:59 p.m., received a 911 call from Ryerson Court that two young people had climbed up on a roof of a residence. A patrol was made. No one located.
•Sept. 13, 7:28 p.m., received a call from Beacon Street that a group of youths had parked in vehicles in church parking lot and were causing a disturbance with their music. Officers attended, spoke to those involved and informed them to stay off the property.
•Sept. 14, 1:14 a.m., received a call from a taxi driver on Starrs Road that a window had been smashed in the taxi. Officers attended and located a person running towards the Irving gas station. The person was arrested and will appear in court in November.
•Sept. 14, 2:20 a.m., received a report of a fight in progress at the Tim Hortons on Starrs Road. Officers attended, two males were located, the situation was dealt with without charges.
•Sept. 16, 2:46 p.m., report from Elm Street of a bike stolen overnight. Bike was a 16-inch girl’s bike with a pink frame and a black and white seat.
•Sept. 19, 9:30 a.m., received a complaint from Vaughn Court of a break and enter to a shed, sometime over the weekend. Shed was in the back of the property and missing from it was a bicycle.
•Sept. 19, 7:33 p.m. received a call via 911 of a fight in progress on Tooker Street. Two youths had reportedly assaulted another male. Officers attended and spoke to all involved, matter under investigation.
