New waterfront initiative and new road for Queens
Region of Queens Municipal Council approved an initiative on Sept. 15 to investigate options to redesign the Liverpool Waterfront between the former legion property and Market Street.
“The Liverpool Waterfront was not laid out according to a well thought out plan, and it is the view of council that by redesigning the waterfront we can make it more efficient, safer and possibly increase the number of vehicles that can be parked,” said Mayor John Leefe.
The Planning Advisory Committee will be in charge of preparing options for council to decide on. A public information session when people can discuss these options will be held after the proposals are made.
New road named
The access road to Queens Place has a name. The road is now known as Queens Place Drive. The reason for naming the road now is because building permits must have a road name in order to be issued. Region of Queens Municipal Council made the decision on Sept. 15.
