Ramp reaches up to overpass
The ‘bridge to nowhere’ at the Joggins Bridge interchange on Hwy. 101 is finally going somewhere.
Bulldozers, dump trucks and graders have built up a ramp on the Smith’s Cove side of the overpass, which has spanned the highway for many months.
The project has closed part of the old Hwy. 1 to Smith’s Cove, although the Back Road is being used for a detour.
The transportation department has issued an advisory that construction of the new interchange will continue until Dec. 15.
Traffic on Hwy. 101 is not affected, says the department.

It will cost tax payers much money but will be worth it if it saves one life. We will get used to it the same as the Digby underpas over time.
