Four men are running for the top job in Wolfville.
Incumbent mayor Bob Stead is reoffering, along with Jeff Cantwell, Garry Balcom and George Townsend.
There are 12 candidates offering to serve as one of the six councillors: Ann Anderson, Peter Drummond, Eric Hughes, Keith Irving, Jim Laceby, David Mangle, Carl Oldham, Sheila Richardson, Hugh Simpson, Bob Wrye and Bill Zimmerman.
The incumbent councilors - Mangle, Wrye, Zimmerman and Simpson - were not joined by two-term colleaques John MacKay and Rosemary Segado, running federally as the Conservative candidate.
The municipal election will be held Saturday, Oct. 18. The vote will be held between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Wolfville School gymnasium.
Advance polls, says returning officer Lorraine Jones, will be held at the fire hall Oct. 9 and 14 between noon and 8 p.m.
Lavinia Parrish-Zwicker of Lockhartville was acclaimed as regional school board representative for District 12 and Wolfville.

Comment online since September 26th 2008So what do these candidates for Mayor stand for?
By what I've seen in the last 2 years, I guess that Robert Stead stands for tax-more, spend more, and make more nanny-legislation?
A quick search of the web tells me that George Townsend has the gifts of literacy and critical thought.
I don't anything about Jeff Cantwell but I see he has a face book site --- and I'm certainly not inclined to sign onto facebook to see what he has to say for himself.
Is Garry R. Balcom the developer/real estate guy?
So Wendy, how about including links to their websites (where the voter might see their policy positions)???
