Road work wish list for Barrington Municipality
The condition of several roads in the Municipality of Barrington came up in council during the Aug. 25 meeting.
Gravel and ditching for the Hawk Beach Road is required as well as repair work on the seawall. A request to have two trash cans and two benches placed in the area will be forwarded to municipal staff.
The need to have the road near Vernon d’Eon Lobster Plugs Ltd., in South Side ditched and to have culverts installed for better drainage was also discussed. Ditching is also required in front of house #414 at The Hawk.
Council also wants to know when the Villagedale, Port LaTour and Baccaro roads will be completed. The request had been previously sent asking that shouldering, ditching and cutting back of trees along the road be done in these areas.
The following is also required: a guardrail at Twinkie’s Corner in Shag Harbour, repairs to
Forbes Point bridge, shouldering between the residences of Clive Hopkins and the convenience store in Wood’s Harbour, repair and new asphalt at the end of the Cripple Creek Wharf Road in Clam Point, a guardrail near the “duck pond” at the sharp turn in Newellton, signs warning of the sharp turn on Highway #103 near Clement’s Pond, replacement of Clam Point sign near North East Point.
The Department of Transportation is being contacted to address these matters.
