Loyola Hearn may not re-offer in expected election
There are media reports quoting unnamed sources as saying federal Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn may not re-offer in the next federal election, expected to be triggered any day now by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Indications point to an Oct. 14 vote.
Hearn is said to have declined comment on the speculation that he won’t seek re-election in his St. John’s South-Mount Pearl, N.L. riding. He says he’ll make his intentions known when an election is called.
Hearn has spent decades in politics, first as a provincial cabinet minister and then as a federal MP.
In February 2006 he was sworn in as fisheries minister.
