Music loving crowd sought for Thursday video
Committee hopes to bring Music Week 2009 to Yarmouth and Acadian Shores
A committee hoping to bring Music Week 2009 to Yarmouth and Acadian Shores wants a large crowd to gather at the Holy Trinity Church on William Street on Thursday, Sept.4 at 5:30 p.m. They'll be filming the group for the final scene in a video bid for the event.
"One of the strict criteria for submitting is a strong sense of community support," said chair Kim Anderson.
"So the more people that are there for this final section of the video, the stronger the picture."
"The purpose of the video part of the proposal is to leave the deciding judges with a lasting impression. We have already made a good impression with Minor Music 2008. As our special guests there were Music Nova Scotia and Socan and Minor Music was a huge success for it's first year.
"So the idea behind the video is to drive it home and convince the panel that this community WILL rise up to the challenge and make Music Week 2009 a success in Yarmouth."
Other Nova Scotia communities are competing with the same intentions of hosting. The Yarmouth and Acadian Shores committee has been gathering footage for the video over the past few weeks. All ages are welcome for the filming. The theme involves the 2008 Juno award winning band, Wintersleep.
Music Week features four days of Nova Scotia's finest bands playing all over the community, educational seminars, songwriters circles and a music awards ceremony. There were 54 bands selected to play this year's Music Week held in Pictou County.
Should the event be held in Yarmouth, it could see performers like Wintersleep, Joel Plaskett and other musicians.
