Seaside committee needs public input
The view has changed behind the Seaside Recreation and Community Centre in Beach Meadows and the centre’s committee wants public input on how to provide more income for the facility.
Since acquiring the deed to the land running down to the shoreline from the Region of Queens Municipality in June, the Seaside Recreation and Community Centre committee is “looking at the potential of providing more income for the facility,” said Project Manager, Gene Wong.

So far they have cleared all the trees along the back of the property.

“In order to do a project you have to have a vision; a vision has to be cleared out,” for new ideas, he explained.

A few options may be to put decks on the back of the centre or make the former baseball field into a park, said Wong.

“It’s what the people want, so the people of the community can use it and have access to the beach,” he added.

He is hoping these changes will entice people in the community to use the centre more or even get involved.

A public meeting will take place in September.

Wong recommends people go down and take a look and if they have any ideas for the property to bring it forward at the public meeting.
