Motorcycle rally inspires Amherst bikers

Attending Digby's fourth annual Wharf Rat Rally for the first time was nothing short of inspiring for one group of bikers.
Several motorcyclists from Amherst including the town's mayor Jerry Hallee decided to attend this year's Wharf Rat Rally in Digby, and the mayor says the experience has been “fantastic”.
"We have been to other rallies in the province and have hosted daylong rally in our town but never experienced one the size of the Wharf Rat Rally," said Hallee. "It was tremendous, a very exciting weekend for all of us."
“Digby is a nice town, there are so many things to see and do and everyone has made us feel welcome."
An avid biker himself, Hallee and a group of fellow bikers from the Cumberland County town said the rally has inspired them to put the wheels in motion for a similar event.
Jackie Cormier, another member of the Amherst group, was thrilled to be among the thousands participating in Atlantic Canada's ‘fastest growing motorcycle rally’.
“I found the weekend thrilling and really believe that our town can host a successful rally like this one,” said Cormier.
Both Hallee and Cormier agreed that hosting an event of this size would require considerable planning especially providing adequate accommodations for bikers.
“Seeking assistance from the Wharf Rat Rally committee to help get us started is our first step,” added Hallee.
